Unable to debug silverlight application

While trying to debug a Silverlight application you may see a break-point which is not hit with a following message :

The break point will not currently be hit. No symbols have been loaded for this document

This means , though your application is running , Visual Studio has not loaded any debugging symbols . To check this , go to :

1 . Hosting Project Properties ->Web Tab -> Debuggers Section

Make sure the Silverlight and ASP.Net checkboxes are checked.

2. <compilation debug=”true” targetFramework=”4.0″/>

Make sure this too is set in config.

3. Make sure your default browser is IE. You have to set the default browser to IE. If you run in Firefox, it won’t hit break point !!!

4.If none of the above works for you , try deleting the ClientBin folder from the website and then build the application again.

Hope this post saves a lot of time for the one in need !
